Assistant Tourism & Chamber Director
New Horizons Chamber & Chickasaw County Tourism is seeking a creative, organized, and community-minded individual to join our team. This role supports daily office operations, assists with events and marketing efforts, and serves as a welcoming and helpful resource for our members, businesses, and community.
This is a part-time position (approximately 25-30 hours per week) with the potential for full-time for the right candidate.
Position Overview
The assistant director plays a key role in keeping the office running smoothly while supporting local events, business engagement and tourism efforts. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications:

Manage and update website content, ensuring accurate and engaging information

Create and schedule social media content to promote events, businesses and community initiatives

Assist with weekly newsletters and other communications

Gather and maintain local event listings, business updates and community information

Support marketing campaigns and promotional efforts for Chamber and tourism initiatives
Events & Community Engagement:

Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing community events and Chamber programs

Represent the Chamber at ribbon cuttings, grand openings and local events

Coordinate event details, communications and follow-up

Engage with local businesses, organizations and volunteers

Assist with sponsorship outreach and community partnerships
Operations & Coordination:

Support day-to-day office operations and member services

Assist with basic financial tracking and reporting

Coordinate mailings, materials, and tourism information displays

Maintain organized office systems and event materials

Provide general administrative and project support as needed
Qualifications

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, QuickBooks, and Canva

Experience with social media management and content creation required

Website experience (Wix or similar platform) is a plus

Strong written and verbal communication skills
